Paws Inn Pet Resort is a family owned and operated resort nestled in the rural county of Goochland, just minutes from Short Pump. When we first opened we called ourselves a "resort" as we wanted to provide all inclusive accommodations. Something we weren't seeing in Richmond. We would consider our facility more like a Bed and Breakfast with regular staff and limited guests. We have remained "all inclusive" in that we do include meals, snacks, doggie daycare activities at NO EXTRA cost. Our facility is able to operate 24-7 so power outages are of no concern. Best of all, your pet will enjoy a naturally interactive and social environment of having fun and seeing familiar friends and staff every time they visit and staff always enjoys building those lifelong relationships. So whether your pet just needs an overnight getaway or an extended stay or somewhere inbetween – Paws Inn Pet Resort is the place we want you to consider . With over 40 years of dog and cat boarding experience in Richmond, we are sure we can make your visit a pleasant one. COVID COMMENT: Many of our four legged friends have also suffered from the isolation that came during COVID. Canines enjoy social activities and the smells that come with being outside and with other canines. Upon returning for daycare, we noticed that some needed a transition period of getting back in the swing of coming out of the home environment and back with their friends. Truly we and they are resilient.

The boarding rates are ALL INCLUSIVE!!
That means room, food, and UNLIMITED activities are INCLUDED in the nightly rate for our guests.
No add ons for outside time, limited walks or cuddles.
*** Additional charges may apply based on the needs of individual guest that require special care.
Medications are given at NO CHARGE except for injections.
My rate starts the day I check in, regardless of the time I arrive.
Check-out time is noon, but I can stay all day on my departure day for half of my normal daily rate.

We offer $5 OFF PER NIGHT for the length of my first stay but there are some restrictions.
My parents must be "new" guests of the Inn, discount cannot be combined with other offers, does not apply to cat stays, not valid for any stay that includes days that are during Spring Break (10 day period), Easter Break (10 day period), Thanksgiving Break (10 day period), Christmas/New Year Break (16 day period), Memorial Day/Fourth of July/Labor Day (10 day period each). ACCOMODATIONS
Most rooms are 4 feet by 8 feet with a raised cot.
There are larger suites available for our families with multiple dogs, as well as cozy "dens" so our smaller guests will feel comfortable.
All of our kennel guests are provided with fresh, cool water on demand along with snacks and blankets.
The hotel is heated and air conditioned, and the maid service will come by to freshen the sheets in the morning while our guests are busy playing in the doggie daycare, or with our skilled groomers at the spa.
A turndown service will come by in the evenings to ready the rooms for bedtime.
Our dog boarding guests have their choice of our fine restaurants, such as "Casa de Snoopy", "Barker's Crust", and "Balto's Steakhouse", all serving various selections of Beneful, Purina 1, Iams, and Kibbles & Bits.
To ensure your pet has their favorite delicacy, please check with the front desk when making a reservation regarding our availability.
We of course realize that your dog may have a specialized diet or a discerning palate – if this is the case, please feel free to let us know and bring food from home and our staff chef will prepare it to suit your pet's needs.
For our guests with limited mobility, room service is offered from 7:00am to 7:00pm.
Feline guests have a special boarding area located on the second floor adjacent to the lobby.
Several condos have window views for bird and squirrel watching in the adjacent woods.
All come with litter boxes, bowls and 3 perches at various levels from the floor to ceiling of the condo.
Of course meals, play/cuddle time is included with their stay.
WHAT TO PACK
We often get questions regarding how best to pack for your pet’s vacation.
At other dog and cat boarding facilities, it may be different – but at Paws Inn, we are an all-inclusive dog and cat boarding resort.
That means you can leave your pet’s blankets, beds, food and toys at home and let them enjoy our accommodations.
Of course, if there is a favorite toy, or if your pet needs a few more pillows or blankets, please bring them along.
We do ask that you don’t bring anything sentimental as we would hate to have your pet loose their favorite toy.
Please make sure your items are well labeled so we can keep track of them.
If your pet requires any kind of medication, please bring them.
vaccinations-emergency care
Certain Vaccinations are required according to age and veterinarian recommendations.
For canines this includes Rabies, Distemper (DHLPP) depending upon age.
Bordetella/Kennel Cough and other vaccinations are at the recommendation of your veterinarian
For felines this includes Rabies and Felline Distemper
At check in, please have a photo copy for your file of Proof of vaccination that has an expiration of each beyond their current stay.
As the years go by, please bring us updated copies for the file as well. If there is a question in regards to our policy please give us a call and we can review this as it applies to each guest.
If a guest requires regular medication, please be sure to present it at check in, along with dosage instructions. If there are any questions as to a medical special need of a guest, please call Reception & speak to one of our staff members. Paw's Inn is able to accommodate most special needs.
If one of our guests falls ill during their stay where medical assistance is needed, the staff will contact you and/or their regular veterinary practice.. If their usual veterinarian is not open, the nearest veterinary practice or the nearest open emergency center will be contacted. Any vet fees/transportation fees incurred are the responsibility of the owner and will be added to your boarding ticket.

Whether Rover needs to be done over, or just needs a quick trim or bath and nail treatment, our spa staff are happy to book your dog grooming appointment.
Prices vary according to size, coat condition and breed of guest.
Massage shampoo with blow dry and nail trim $28 and up
Nail trim $15 and up
Ear Cleaning $10 and up
Hair cuts (includes nails and bath) $50 and up
Dog grooming appointments can coincide with your dog boarding or doggie daycare visit.
Prices will vary according to the size of the guest, condition of coat, and other considerations.
Specialty shampoos, including hypo-allergenic, sensitive skin, oatmeal, flea dips, and de-shedding varieties, are available.
When booking your dog grooming appointment, please let staff know if your pet requires a special shampoo.
doggie daycare
Paw's Inn Pet Resort in Goochland offers Doggie Daycare on the resort grounds for our guests who want to stay “out of trouble” at home. Doggie daycare is available Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 8:30am to 6:00pm every week, except when the lobby is closed. Once a guest is registered at the resort, they can also use the express, early bird drop off area for any dog daycare or dog grooming visit. Information about the early drop off can be obtained from reception.
During doggie daycare, guests will be outside most of the day (weather permitting) playing ball, swimming in the kiddie pools (in summer) digging holes or playing tag with friends. The doggie daycare areas have mulch and/or grass, decks and patios. For shade they have beach umbrellas, tents, and trees, along with dog houses and tiered decks. Oh, and then there are the adironack chairs that many love to nap in. Guest play groups are small and they have the opportunity to get a snack and take a nap during their day.
Doggie daycare is $20 whether they stay a little or all day.

Rooms can be reserved with Visa/Master CC. and a deposit of $50 is required to hold the room which is applied to that stay.
Should you need to cancel or change your reservation please do so within two days prior to check in or check out on non holiday periods and three days for stays that are over holidays. The deposit is then refunded or can be applied to a future stay.
If you have already checked in and need to shorten you stay, the same notice is neededed otherwise there will be a balance due for the reserved time or the amount of time remaining in the cancellation notice period, whichever is greater.
We do fill up over holiday periods and during the busy summer months but we do take walk in stays if the rooms are available.

Most of our new guests come from existing guests and we are so thankful for them. If, however, after reviewing our website and/or brochure, you have additional questions regarding the resort or would like to schedule a tour, please contact the concierge desk.
Since it is unsettling to many of our guests to see unfamiliar people in their space, we try to do tours in the afternoons during a limited time. You can call us to schedule or just stop by one afternoon!
We ask that this be done PRIOR to your first stay as to not delay your check-in or the check-in of other guests.

We have been open since 1996 and there have been plenty of valleys over those years with the economy, COVID and loss of family but it has all been worth it seeing our guests (once we establish that friendship) come thru the door with the joy in their face and the hugs and kisses that we get from them as they run to the back and outside to play.

I have been taking my dogs to Paws Inn for 14 years. The staff is knowledgeable and caring, and the facility is among the best I've ever seen. They took care of my very old Airedale once, and on the last day of his stay, he developed a problem. They very quickly took him to my vet and called us at our vacation number to let us know that Jake was in distress. At another kennel he might not have been noticed. I also take my dogs there for a "play day" and bath, and the dogs are so happy - they just love it there! They can't wait to get out of the car, and never want to leave. I highly recommend Paws Inn.

I have been taking my dog to Paws Inn for pretty much the entire life of my dog. Whenever i need a last minute kennel, Debbie always tries to accommodate us. sometimes yes, sometimes no. My dog has never had a problem there and in the end, that is all that matters to me. She comes home all happy which makes me happy.

Paws Inn is the best! I drop my dog off for daycare a few days a week and she is exhausted at the end of the day! Staff is great and really friendly, but make sure to reserve holidays and summer boarding way in advance. The cancellation/early pickup policy is tough, but that's the price paid for such top quality dog care...after all, if you make a change it may impact their overall availability. I have been a happy customer for years and will continue to be as long as Paws Inn is open.

Paws Inn is the only place I will take my dog. I have tried mulitple doggie daycares and boarding facilities and this is the BEST! The employees really care about the animals, they are very interactive with them, the animals get the ultimate experience and exercise here. They have a large facility and a lot of room in the exercise area for the dogs to run. My dog falls asleep in the car on the way home because he has had such a fun time. I would reccommend this place with a 100% guarantee that your dog will be safe and have a great time!

Paws Inn is Meesha's home away from home but on a daily basis. I hate leaving him alone at home so I take him to doggie daycare EVERYDAY at Paws Inn. I LOVE the place. Debbie, Heather and Monica treat him like he belongs to them.. They are like family to us. I recommend the place to everyone in the Richmond area.

I have been taking my dogs to Paws Inn for years - and know Debbie very well. I've come to know her family - her daughter - the tragic loss of her son.....I can't think of another place I would ever entrust my animals to. Debbie is the kindest, most loving and generous spirit you will ever meet on this planet. I consider her to be a member of my own family.....She treats the animals as if each and every one were her own. And she has instilled those same qualities in each and every one of her staff.
